ACU boots???

Anyone know of GOOD ACU approved boots?

I was thinking about these http://www.uscav.com/Productinfo.aspx?pr...

What kind have you found to be the most comfortable? Looking for something to help during long road marches, and the hot weather ones we were issued in basic are crap and give me horrible blisters.

Thanks!

ACU boots???
The poster who said that you should never do marches or train with new boots is correct. Any new boot, good or bad, will destroy your feet by the time you've gone even a couple of miles. It takes a good month to wear in a pair, longer until they become like carpet slippers.

If you soak them in hot/warm water for a few minutes and then wear them around for the rest of the day, it'll help break them in a bit faster.

It's easier to say which I really didn't like - any "jungle-boot" efforts like the ones you've pointed at. Those half-canvas/nylon, half-leather abortions are utter rubbish and will hurt the backs and sides of your lower ankles where the leather/suede joins the canvas/nylon. And the reinforcing strap can dig into your ankle-bone. The old, light US Army boot was OK for dry summer use, but had no water resistance. That might suit you here, but it's black. I still always use British DMS desert ankle boots with puttees - old fashioned, but you can walk and walk and walk, and the puttees keep all the shyt out. I don't suppose the US Army would approve - but we do have more experience in that part of the world than your lot.
Reply:I do not recommend those boots for long road marches. I do not know what kind of boots they issued for basic training as I was issue the black combat boots and BDU's, but I would recommend the Vibram brand. They were the most comfortable for me personally. The winter boots (i know its almost summer) have a nice cushy inside to them, and I wore them throughout the summer as well as winter. Each person has their own brand they like best, but that was my favorite.
Reply:my husband has those, and these http://www.uscav.com/Productinfo.aspx?pr... and others (rocky special opps tan boots, and bellevilleshoe.com 390des)

the link above are the ones he prefers. it just depends on how they get broken in...

all new boots are crap and will give you blisters. dont wear new boots for long road marches.... but dont wear crappy old ones either.
Reply:Those are exactly what I wore for my first tour. Great boots. I'd also suggest going with the Oakley boots, which I wore for the second tour and currently wear now. Understand that some commands are a little anal and won't allow the Oaks...so I'd check on it first but they are by far and away the best boot out there that I have used.
