I'm so sad. After much saving and much deciding, I decided to purchase a pair of Earth boots, style Serengeti. I have a problem with finding any boots of any brand to fit my skinny little legs, and researched that you can have boots altered to a smaller size to fit your leg if necessary. So I decided if the Earth boots were too large when I received them, I could find some one to take/send them to to alter them.
Well I received them yesterday, and sure enough my legs are swimming in them. So I call and call and call shoe altering shop after shoe altering shop today to see if anyone could alter them, and no one will do it for me. I love my Earth boots, I love the inverted heel thing with the sole. I need them really bad for work to help with my back pain. I really desperately don't want to send them back.
What can I do to make them look better on my leg? I'd even be willing to take them in myself if I could. (I bought them to wear with skirts, rather than pants.)
No one will alter my Earth boots to fit my skinny little legs! :(?
That sucks!!!!!!

Frye boots... color help!?!?!?
I am going to buy a pair of frye boots for the fall/winter. I am looking into the harness 12r style. However, i am having trouble deciding between 3 colors.
Tan (click on the color tan on the page because the default color is chocolate)
http://www.fryeboots.com/subpages/catalo...
The other two colors i am considering are Dark brown and gaucho.... they are on this page:
http://www.fryeboots.com/subpages/catalo...
Help would be much appreciated... i am horrible at this., but i am leaning toward dark brown... i think.
Oh i forgot to say that i am a very stylish MALE... I will be wearing these mostly with designer jeans.
Which color boots?
well i personally like the dark brown but you mentioned you have mostly designer jeans so think about it logically and pick the boots what will go better with your jeans (Y)
Reply:choc are much nicer. the tan look worn and dirty.
Reply:I prefer the chocolate color. I think it will suit you more.

Apres Walkin Boots for Snowboarding?
I was wondering if it makes a difference if i used Apres Walking Boots as a Snowboarding Boots..
Would it make a difference? Or is it better to use a proper Snowboard Boots?..
Apres Walkin Boots for Snowboarding?
No...you will need dedicated snowboard boots that are specially designed for the task.
Snowboard boots are designed to be extremely stiff around the ankles, even the softest boots make it tough to even bend your ankle. They are also much stiffer in the soles that are pretty resistant to flexing. These elements are important for transferring motion from your legs to your board and are also neccesary to prevent injury.
Using hiking boots would be a bad idea and would probably get you hurt.
If you plan on going riding and don't have a board then you'll probably need to rent one which almost always includes boots as part of the setup.
Reply:well its better to use a real snowboard...but if the Apres Walkin Boots can make so you can go for it

Emu / Ugg boots questions?
OK. I have 2 questions:
1) What is the logo on the back of the boot for Emus? Is it a camel, or does it say "Emu."
2) What is the average sole width over the shoe on Uggs? Like, somethimes there is a tiny lip, and I was wondering how big the little "lip" is.
3) What is on the soles of the Ugg boots?
4) What is the color of the writing on the tag on balck ugg boots?
Emu / Ugg boots questions?
1. It has a little white oval with the word
EMU inside. It's not a tab / label thing like
UGG's; it's sewn right in. It's not that big,
but it's visible.
2. I don't know.
2. It says UGG and has little sunshiney things.
4. Burgundy and white ; same.
Reply:The logo on the back is like a rubber oval that, says 'emu' in white letters.
I don't really get this question, sorry, lol, if you're asking how thick the sole is, it's a good 3/4 of an inch.
On the sole, there's a bunch of swiggly lines, then it says 'ugg, ugg, ugg, ugg' in a line, and underneath that, a bunch of signs that look like suns, and then 'ugg, ugg, ugg, ugg' again XD I went and checked my boots XD
The color of the writing on the tag is a greyish/whitish.
Hope I helped!
2)fairly wide/romy, very little less that 1/2 a cm
3)sheep wool(inner sole)outer sole is uggand then some dashes things
4) white

These ski boots have faux fur but are a little pricey, I was wonderin if any other boots had faux fur?
Here is the link to one of the boots with faux fur. I am a size 28.5 or 29. I'd either want a lower price or a different color.

I know this has nothing to do with your question but I noticed that the boots you are interested in are 3 buckle boots. I've never had any luck with a three buckle boot....either they had pinch points which makes for cold and sore feet or they didn't grip my feet enough for good control
Reply:Boot with fur that I've seen only have it around the top. It only serves to let snow collect on the extra surface area of the fur, and isn't that great.
Reply:I assume you tried these at a store and know that they fit. You NEVER want to buy ski boots without trying them on.

Boots with jeans?
can anyone send me a link of boots that you can wear with jeans, like skinny jeans for example. another example would be if you watch degrassi, the episode where darcy and peter go up north to that party, well if you noticed her outfit...yeah the boots and jeans thing. help me out? thankss
Boots with jeans?
If you are feeling confident, go with ultra-trendy ankle boots. You can wear a nice pair of dark wash skinny jeans with them or even a fitted mini. (Not denim!!)
http://www.shopbop.com/mod-bootie-kors-s...
Suede always looks really great with opaque tights or leggings. Just make sure not to wear suede in the spring or summer! You need to buy leather for those seasons.
If you want a more casual feel to your outfit, try a classic riding boot. Get them in leather, in either a chocolate or rust color. Also, the low heel means no fuss walking.

Boots and Jeans? What type can you wear?
I have the black boots with a two inch heel and they go about two inches below my knee. They have the wrinkly type leather and a 6 inch zipper on the side. Are they ok to wear outside a pair of jeans or should I wear them at all with the jeans? I got these boots at Walmart if that is any help.

you should wear the skinny jeans so that the boots can fit over then better its a great look i love boots especially its the perfect season!!!

Reply:Yeah you should wear them over jeans! Get some skinny jeans and put your boots over them. Or you could wear them with a skirt.
Reply:Skinny fit jeans worn inside the boots, or bootcut outside!

Are slouch boots warm enough for a snowy winter?
I live in Chicago and the winters here are insanely cold. I was looking into buying new boots and i really liked these slouch boots
( https://www.shiekhshoes.com/store/pc-143... ),
but the only thing is that I don't know if they are warm enough for the winter and if they are waterproof so they can keep out the snow. If anyone knows how these types of boots are....PLEASE HELP!!
Are slouch boots warm enough for a snowy winter?
I own boots VERY similar to those, only they are only to my shin. I wear them all the time here (in Michigan. It's absolutely freezing!). I can stand the cold for looking good, and while it's not warm inside these boots, it's not terrible. I'm not sure if you're looking for boots that are for function or fashion, but these meet halfway. As for waterproof, I'm not sure what it's called, but I ahve this spray that prevents scuffing, ripping, and water damage. If I figure out what it is, I'll let you know.
Another thing about these boots (the ones I ahve), I get alot of static shock on my toes..... Don't know why, but just a warning.
Hope I helped a little bit!

I'm not a guy, but I think that boots to your knee are sexier. Plus, they are classy, and they will never go out of style.

Boots that are too tall or too short are uncomfortable, and flexibility on the top of the boot helps too!

Boots Semi Permanent Dye - Dark Brown?
I have light - medium brown hair and was going to try Boots own hair dye in Dark Brown, I've read the box and the colour looks like I want it but I was wondering if when you dye your hair will it ever go back to it's original colour after you have washed it for the estimated time it takes for the colour to be removed or will it alter my natural hair colour slightly after use? Has anyone else tried Boots dark brown hair dye? What's it like?
Thanks
Boots Semi Permanent Dye - Dark Brown?
it will return to it's original state EVENTUALLY but not if it contains hydrogen peroxide (which i am guessing it doesn't because it is a semi)
Reply:i have been a hair dresser for 15 years and and semi perm hair colors do wash out like in 30 shampoos. and let me tell you that the color on the box is not the color you will get only because the color pic that is on the box is taken from white dyes synthetic hair it makes for a good picture. not natural hair because it doesn't photograph well. and i have never heard of boot's hair color. and yes your hair will go back to it's origonal color but it takes a long time 30 shampoo's thats like 2 months since you should only wash your hair every other day. if it comes out to dark i suggest you wash your hair in ( dawn dish washing liquid) sounds crazy but it will lighten it .
Reply:If it's semi permanent it shouldn't alter the colour of your natural hair after you've washed it the recommended amount of times. Be careful tho as colours tend to come out darker than the shade on the box.

Buying cowgirl boots for work...?
I want to buy them online and I don't want to pay that much money for them... I was looking at a pair by oak tree farms... or by ariat... or laredo.. I tried a couple of pairs on at a boot store, but I don't want to pay in store prices. Also how long does it take to break in a pair of boots? I have about 10 days! Any boot buying tips?
Buying cowgirl boots for work...?
if you are looking for cheap and you do not say your line of work. Look for comfort and looks and spend good money on 3 pair so you can rotate them. Some boots look great and if you are on your feet trust me dont wear high heel ones all the time wear demi heel to save those tootsies. and your toes will love you too
Reply:If you need them for camp, you might want to consider some rubber cowboy rain boots. This site has a bunch of them. Some solid colors and some with patterns.

Better Quality Boots: Bearpaw, EMUs, or UGGs???
I recently bought my 1st boots ever: bearpaw demi(ankle) boots in Olive and I adore them. So I decided to get another pair of boots and came across EMU's they seem to be of better quality since they are more expensive, but are they better than Bearpaw's? I read mixed reviews. UGG's are so overrated so I am trying to avoid them the best I can, but a lot of people recommend them over the other cheaper brands. Should I buy another Bearpaw or should I branch off to more finer booties? I want to buy either a short or tall kind no more ankles since I have one already~~ Thanks a lot if you can help!
Better Quality Boots: Bearpaw, EMUs, or UGGs???
UGGS are definatly better quality than EMUS, but I totally understand where why you wouldn't want to get the. they are beyond over rated.
My oppinion- don't bother. Although UGGs are better quality tha EMUs, they aren't really worth the cost.
Side Note- I have a pair of UGGs that are less than a year old and they leak every time I wear them when there is snow on the ground.
Be original and stay far away from Uggs.
Reply:I have the new tall UGG crochet style. They are much cuter than the originals.
Reply:Uggs are the warmest and longest lasting if you use the right care tools. Though the price comes to about 300 with the everythings, but, its all going to last forever.
Reply:okk..
havent heard of bearpaw, cant comment on thatt
EMUs: well yes there sorta like uggs, cheaper
UGGs: i agree w/ u. there soo overated
the thing is, i hate how both emus and uggs kill sheep for u. like if u buy a pai of uggs or emus, u are killing a sheep, and for what? YOURSELF! WHY? JUS so u can show off. there are other warm boots. ok. well its one thing if u want to show off ur rich. its a whole other thing if u wanna b like evryone else-unoriginall
and sry for completely blasphemizing ur question. i jus rly wanetd to get thatt out there

I was just on a trip in the snow and they have been fine. Even though my emu's were inexpensive and great, i still would recommend the uggs because they stay well conditioned
Reply:i guess uggs ,bearpaw and emu are just copying uggs. tall is the best especially in the winter when its kind of cold

10 days is plenty enough time to break in a pair of boots. Really it should only take a week to get them broke in though. You don't say what kind of work you will be doing or how many hours a day you will need to wear them. You want a pair that are comfortable yet durable enough to with stand the amount of wear and tear they will receive. You don't want a pair that is going to fall apart within the first month you wear them. I personally recommend Arait boots. I've been buying Ariat boots for the past 2 or 3 years now. They are comfortable, affordable, and they last at least a year with all the wear and tear I put them through at my job.

Comfy jodhpur boots?
I usually wear long boots, but would like to try some jodhpur boots with half chaps instead - I've tried so many pairs of boots, but they all rub my heel!
Could anyone recommend a good pair that aren't too expensive?
Comfy jodhpur boots?
Ariat are a good make and so are Regent, they are both comfortable.
Reply:well, all boots are gonna hurt for the first two weeks or so, so get whatever kind you like, and break them in.
Reply:theres toggi, loveson, ariot thats all i know of at the moment
Reply:Dublin make good comfy boots at great prices try the Dublin excel at 49.99 ,they are a really comfy boot which i wear all day long. they have never rubbed and felt like slippers after a couple of days, great. they also make a cheaper boot called the Dublin daily, i have had these boot also they are comfy and at 34.99 they are easily affordable. all good tack shops will sell them. Dublin also make a selection of half chaps that go with there boots with prices starting from about 20 pounds. good luck in your search for comfort.
Reply:I have Saxon Equileather Boots. Thay are £15.00 from Robinsons, Ride Away or Derby House. I have had them for a year and they have not even cracked or frayed! :D
Reply:some boots will rub but i wera thick socks with mine to give that extra padding. My feet are still growing so there is no point spending £100's on boots that wont last very long.
Reply:Mine are TuffRider, with Grand Prix chaps. Good luck!
Reply:ariat heritage paddock boots. super comfortable, get them slightly small as they will stretch out. I hated mine when i first got them, but i was at a show and had them on 3-5 hrs, 4 days in a row and now they are soooooooo comfy and big enough. the first day i thought i got them too small. The rubs go away quickly. ariats are the some of the strongest and break in the fastest.
Reply:I bought saxon boots and they're pretty comfortable. I didnt have any problems with them.
Reply:I have Harry Hall joddy boots, and Mountain Horse 'Mountain Rider ii' (lace up) boots at the moment, but would choose my lace up boots everytime over the usual joddy boots, as they have a thicker sole (more comfy when dismounting!!), although they are still made for riding in, so they are not too thick as to be dangerous. Mountain horse also do protective jodhpur boots which I have had before, and they are great too!!!

Boots that make you taller?
Does anyone know of any websites or stores where you can find mens boots that will make you 2-3 inches taller? I don't care if it's noticeable or not. Like elavtor shoes, but not shoes...boots. I've looked alittle bit, with no luck. Anyone point me in the right direction? I wear a size 12.
Boots that make you taller?
I would wear lifts inside the boot instead of heels, not many men carry heels well (only Prince...many men celebrities who did got heavily criticized)), unless you do cowboy boots..which is a better choice, do very worn ones, and wear them with modern clothes...you can carry off a urban cowboy..and no one will pay attention to the heels!!
for more tips read http://www.beautybyella.com (article on celebrity report cards)
Reply:Idk where but you can try norstrom or those high dollar department stores.
We have a student teacher and he wears these black velvet boots that make him taller lol.

Suede riding boots?
i have been looking far and wide for a nice pair of non leather riding boots (personal reasoning) and i have found a pair of tall suede riding boots.....one problem, can you even use suede riding boots for horse riding?
if not, what else can i use? besides rubber....
Suede riding boots?
Yes, you can! It's like wearing suede chaps! Good for you! Got to get me a pair now!
Reply:Suede will not hold up as well as leather, and my guess is that they are fashion boots from a store that is not a tack shop? Once in a while somebody will make something that will have an ok sole for riding, but it really makes a world of difference to buy boots that are specifically designed for riding. The most important thing is that the boot have a smooth sole and a low catch heel (no higher than 1"). Other types of soles can get the foot caught in the stirrup or slide right through it. The boot even makes a difference in english vs. western. They are designed differently because the saddles and stirrups are designed differently. They do make some non-leather material that looks like leather. The downside of it is that it does not stretch or adapt to your personal conformation at all like leather does. Personally, I think leather wears better too. If you keep them clean after every use, they really are quite nice. They also make rubber covers you can keep over the soles to help protect the leather that gets the most wear. But again, if you really don't want leather, the leather-like material will probably be your best bet. If you ride western, I have no idea if they make boots that are non leather (probably) but since I primarily ride english, I have english paddock boots and several pairs of tall boots. I would talk to a tack shop because they might be able to provide you with additional options and help you get the correct fit (more than just shoe size).
Reply:suede riding boots can be used for riding but make sure you weather-proof them. other materials are equileather which is not actual leather, and pvc. hope to be of help!
Reply:Sure you can use them, they'd have good grip. You wouldn't want to use them in the show ring, though. Are they real riding boots, like from a tack shop and not the "fashion" kind of riding boots that regular stores have? I've never seen suede ones, that's pretty cool. More convenient than half chaps, anyway.
Reply:I have suede riding boots, and yes.. you can ride with them. They do get dirty easily though.
Reply:Suede is a form of leather, so if you cant wear leather, that wont work.
Suede can be used but it is not as strong and will get dirty easily.

Boots that are designes to fit a thinner leg?!?
Yes - DUO does boots to fit all kinds of legs. I have two pairs from them and they are brilliant. http://www.duoboots.com/ they have a great showroom in London and one in Bath. They measure you up properly and bring out loads of boots for you to try on.
Check out their website as they have just gotten a new range in. They are expensive but I have had one pair for 4 years now and they still look good.
All the measurements are on the website and they are brilliant for really skinny or chubby legs.

Step 6: Finish by applying MK Signature® NouriShine™ Lip Gloss to the center of the top and bottom lips to help make lips appear fuller.
Cheek Color Application for a Heart Face:
Step 1: Apply several small dots of highlight on the chin and blend to make it appear wider.
Step 2: Contour the sides of the forehead, down over the temple area and along the sides of the face.
Step 3: Sweep cheek color along the center of each cheek, just below the pupil of the eye, to help cheeks appear slimmer and the jaw wider.
Reply:I have that problem also. I've found a few things work. Look for boots that lace up the front and also have an inside zipper, so you can adjust them but not spend forever lacing them up every time you go out. Some boots also have adjustable straps at the top. Stretchy fabrics are another option. One more that I found is some boots fit tighter in a mid-calf length than full knee height.
For instance here is a boot that wouldn't work on thin legs

A style like this would be better, because it has straps you could tighten

English people - What is Boots (the drugstore/chemist) like?
They've just started selling Boots brand cosmetics here in the States. I'm just wondering if Boots is low-end like Walmart or a little more high end.
English people - What is Boots (the drugstore/chemist) like?
Boots in England is not really like a Walmart it doesn't sell so much. It is mainly just makeup medicine and hair products. The prices vary they do own brands and cheaper stuff but they also sell the expensive make up brands such as clinque, max factor and many more including perfumes. However at the moment a lot of the make up over in England is double the price it is in America. I hope you enjoy boots i know i do so get shopping.

What is the correct fit for bells boots?
Can someone tell me exactly how Bells Boot are properly fitted.I just got I just got the classic equine No Turn DL Bell Boots
(http://classicequine.com/_HS/ProductDeta...
and I just wanted to make sure they are fitting my pony properly. She will be jumping in these (I do hunters) if that changes anything.I've never really used bell boots so Im new to them.
What is the correct fit for bells boots?
Rachel pretty much summed it up. hunters can only show in bell boots if it really muddy in the ring. bell boots need to cover the heel and if the horse is shod the back of the shoe or else they are pointless.
Reply:Well, first off as far as I know hunters aren't allowed to use boots. At least at the shows I've been to.
But anyway, they are defiantly a good idea. You should be able to fit two fingers in between the hoof and the boot, and the back of the boot should sort of hover over the ground, not too low or too high up.

Would you wear these boots with grey skinny jeans?
yes definately if ur skinny jeans r like a "smoky" gray cuhs its like a shade lighter so it would b perfect. if u want a layering effect then add a white or lite gray tee/tank top and it would be a perfect fit ^^
Reply:oh yes i guess.
it will look cool even if i don't like the boots too much .
but they look nice and they will be nicer with a skinny Grey jeans or even a leggings.

How to wear rain boots fashionably?
I bought these light blue plaid rain boots and I like them very much! But I'm having a bit trouble trying to coordinate the rest of my outfit with it. What do you think is a good summer/spring outfit to wear with cutsy rain boots?
I have some ideas:
Skinny jeans (tucked in), top ?? (would a black polo work?)
Dress with or without tights
any more thoughts?
How to wear rain boots fashionably?
i'd definitely wear skinny jeans tucked in, with a black or other cool-colored polo (a blue plaid shirt layered underneath the polo would look really cool with it too, if you wanted to coordinate with the boots very well!)
Reply:Wear some skinny jeans or board shorts with a black polo under a light blue polo.. and don't forget your accessories! Try some light blue, and black bead braclets ( maybe white if u have any on ) a light blue or white beaded necklace, and u can always wear silver earrings if u don't have any black or blue ones! I's prefer not to wear a dress with rainboots, but u can try a skirt without leggins. Have fun.
Reply:i dont think skinny jeans would look good but thats just me
i think maybe a skirt and a blue shirt

Reply:Black skinny jeans tucked into the boots, a back and white belt, blue and black layered tanks, or a blue tank under black tee!
Reply:Skirts and dresses are super cute. Skinny jeans with a really BRIGHT shirt looks really cute. If you have a matching umbrella it's awesome and super in and cute!
Reply:if you wanna look individual wear them with a cute skirt and a bright t-shirt

What material are these boots made from?
It really looks like genuine leather, but I dont know UK pricing, so it could be a fake leather. But it didnt seem to be a suede material, just a soft leather. They are cute though

Where can I find adult-size rain boots?
NOT the ones like this from Target:
http://www.gelatikidz.com.au/Ladies%20Po...
However, I did like the children's style boots from target:
http://www.target.com/Kids-Uda-Frog-Rain...
but they didn't come in adult sizes.
Where can I find plain rain boots in adult sizes that don't have a stupid pattern (like plaid or dots; frogs and kitty faces on the toe is acceptable) and don't have a stupid heel like in the first picture.
Affordable would be cool too.
Also, I'd like to buy them in the store so I can try them on. I don't want to buy them online.

Those frog boots are sweet! I should get a pair for my niece :-)

Fave pair of footy boots?
I have 5 different pairs of boots.. i cant decide which ones i like best and im always looking to buy more and i don't care WHAT some people say, boots can make a difference to the player.
Fave pair of footy boots?
Nike Tiempo Mystic. My Idol, Paolo Maldini, wears them.
Reply:At first I thought the new Vapor IV's were overrated because Ronaldo wears them but my rich friend brought them to school one day and realised they are top quality trainers. Subtle things like the surface of the boot reduces air resistance in all directions. The blade tips are thinner so it can cut into the grass quicker. It's a good trainer but recommended for a player that wants to stand out. Quick feet or incredible technique make the boot look better. You won't catch a defensive player with those boots on
Reply:I'm the same way. I have over 10 pairs right now and I wear all of them. I think the Diadori Totti models are very comfortable. However, I really like playing with the Nike total 90 III
Reply:Whats the Question.
May favorite pair of boots is my Adidas predators Red
Reply:I got into football during the '94 World Cup. With my favourite player being Roberto Baggio I went out and bought a pair of Roberto Baggio Diadora boots. They were cool.

How do I stretch leather pull-on boots?
I just bought THE cutest pull-on leather boots by Naughty Monkey but I need to stretch the shaft of the boot because I have wide calves. Please help me please! BTW, the boots are real leather.
How do I stretch leather pull-on boots?

with dark jeans and either a dark red top or a black top but i think that that would be to much darkness so i would probably stick with the dark jeans and the dark red top

FOR WORKyou can choose between a BLACK SKIRT - pencil skirts would look nice - ( see sources) and a top of your choice OR you could wear black or grey dress pants and a red top (with a nice simple pattern if you choose) OR a RED BLAZER with a black tank top and black dress pants
GOING OUT Wear A SCOOP NECK halter or tank (source 3) In a RED slightly lighter/ darker than shoes with black dress pants and AMAZING EARRINGS

How to store leather boots?
Well, i just bought this pair of indoor football boots which is made up of leather so how do i store it to prevent it from being bitten by mice or cockroaches or turn moldy(cuz after i play in the evening, it might get wet and may cause fungus growth-will it?) cuz the boots has a strong leather smell? Thanks! =)
How to store leather boots?
First of all, if they get really wet, try to dry them as well as you can. Try to store your boots in a room temperature place. Bacteria and fungus need moisture and heat to grow. So try to keep them as dry as you can. Good Luck!

Help ... Little black dress and black knee boots?
Hello, I have purchased a black dress to wear for Valentine's dinner. It's got a halter-ish top and is very small at waist and then flares out. Very lady like and Audrey Hepburn-ish. Question. Would it be a major faux pas to wear very nice black knee boots? Or are heels a must? I ask because it's cold and rainy today. Is this committing a major faux pas? Also, if anyone can post links to dresses like this shown w/boots, please do so. Thanks!

Help ... Little black dress and black knee boots?
Go with the boots. You would look better wearing them in the rain then wearing heels. The boots are dressy enough to match.
Reply:Personally I think those boots are ugly. Go with the high heels.
Reply:I think that look would be hot! I love wearing dress like that with heeled boots like those. It'll look great! And remember, part of dressing well and fashionable is to be prepared and dressed for the weather -- it would be a major faux pas to wear strappy heels or sandals and have your feet soaked with rain or ice or dirty water. Wear the boots and a nice shawl or other bit of pretty cover for your shoulders/arms and you'll look beautiful.
Reply:i answered your last question but now that you put the boot pics up, i'd say that that could be cute =]
Reply:simply as the dress nips in at the waist and then flares the boots would look really nice and really stylish
enjoy your meal
Reply:Oh yeah, a faux pas indeed. Don't ruin your Valentine's dinner, girl!!! Just wear a pair of plain black shoes, the strappy kind, with heels (not too high tho), or maybe plain black pumps. Besides, those boots are SO ugly!!!
Reply:I would skip the boots because it's a halter...sounds like you should have a strappy black heel, or a maryjane type. Boots are better with skirts and fitted dresses with less construction.
Reply:Strappy heels or nice pumps but it depends on your body type.
How much are you going to be walking outside anyway?
Boots can either make you look short, cheap or plain trashy but those are pretty killer boots.
If you have long legs and a long body line then those boots will work well with some black opaque stockings or tights. I'm a guy can't remember which is which.
Remember your shoes should extend your line not shorten your legs. If the dress is long then heels or pumps. If it is quite short then stockings and boots will work.
To avoid looking trashy try a simple necklace, that adds a bit of glamour and shine.
Reply:these boots dont go with an audrey hepburn-ish dress
Reply:i think would look good..ony u can know tho wen u try them on! if u think they look nice go 4 it!

Are there any combat boots that look like Gipfast, Getta Grip, or Doc Mart in the USA???
I'm looking for a pair of boots that are similar in style to the european made combat boots like Gripfast, Getta Grip, Doc Martins ect that come in half sizes. The european made brands all come in whole sizes. Is there a company in the states that makes combat boots similar to the european made boots???
Are there any combat boots that look like Gipfast, Getta Grip, or Doc Mart in the USA???
We have doc martins in the U.S.
Reply:I wear a 7 1/2 shoe. A few years ago, a pair of brown combat style boots caught my eye at Walmart (of all places!). They were mega-cheap, and lasted for a long time (I wore them to do outdoors work at a national park). The brand was lower east side.

I had a pair of these boots when I was in the second grade (I'm talking about in the 80's). Anyway, I was in Macy's the other day and I saw a pair similiar to what I had; it brought back memories! Then a girl was trying them on. The boots looked pretty cute.
Are they "in" for the fall/winter?
I've included a link to a pair of boots that are similiar just so you can get an idea what I'm talking about.
Thanks!

Slouch Ankle Boots? Are They In?
They're really cute! If you believe you look good in them, buy them! It doesn't matter what's in style. If you're iffy about this logic, then wear something that's in style with something that's, uh, not in style. Make sense? Start a trend! I always wear cargo shorts and an occasional camo with colorful tanks and even a babydoll once... lol.. People like it.
Hope I helped. :)
Reply:If their in or not.. their verry cutte !
Buy them //♥♥
Reply:Yes, they're still considered "in" but according to Vogue and magazines like that, they're on the way out. Oxford booties are kicking them out.
But if you like them, then by all means -- wear them.
Reply:If you like them, wear them. It doesn't matter if it's in or not.
Reply:i think so, i love them i have a brown pair from roxy
Reply:I ask myself the same questions. Everything in fashion is on a 20-ish year cycle. I see legwarmers, leggings, tie-dyed shirts, you name it. Personally I would not wear slouch boots because they don't have the classic, streamlined look that I have come to appreciate as a 30-something.

Waterproof hiking boots with support for 'over pronation'. Any UK suppliers?
My father in law has over pronation in both his feet and he cannot get a pair of hiking boots to fit. He loves to walk his dog in the forest but with the boots he has got it is aggravating the condition. Money is not an object for the right boot! Can anybody help please?
Waterproof hiking boots with support for 'over pronation'. Any UK suppliers?
I think you just need to get a pair of boots with stiff ankle support (real leather tends to be stiffer) and then have special insoles fitted by an ortotics centre. I don't think this is cheap, but it makes him happy and means he can keep doing something he loves, it may be worth it. A cheaper alternative would be to try Scholl first; they used to have a service that fitted basic individualised insoles.
Reply:Why not have him get a pair he likes and then visit a doctor to get a prescription for orthotics? If he does have severe pronation he probably should be wearing orthotics on a normal basis anyways. Plus, if he had the inserts he could change them from shoe to shoe; especially if he had a muddy pair of boots and wanted to wear a clean pair- he could easily switch the orthotics in and out! Podatrists can also prescribe orthotics but I do have orthotics and would highly suggest a foot and ankle specialist (orthopedic surgeon.) They can make sure that everything checks out a-okay.
Hope that helps!

Joke; new boots?
Bert and Maude are senior citizens, and Bert has always wanted an expensive pair of alligator cowboy boots. Seeing them on sale one day, he buys a pair and wears them home, asking Maude, "So, do you notice anything different about me?"
"What's different? it's the same shirt you wore yesterday and the same pants too."
"What's different?" Frustrated, Sam goes into the bathroom, undresses and comes out completely naked, wearing only his new boots. Again, he says, "Maude, do you notice anything different?"
"What's different, Bert? it's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday and will be hanging down again tomorrow."
Angrily, Bert shouts, "Do you know why it's hanging down? because it's looking at my new boots!!"
Maude replies, "You should have bought a hat!"

UGG-Like Boots?
Hi. I was wondering if anybody knew of a website where I could find a certain type of UGG-Like Boots called Emu's. I found them at this website ( http://www.tillys.com/tillys/variants.as... ) but I want them in other colors like Navy/Dark Blue and Dark Brown. If anybody can tell me where to find these boots, or something similar to them, would be a great help! Thanks.

Has Dynafit made normal (non-touring) boots in the past few years?
I just found a nice pair of Dynafit boots but on the website it looks like they only make touring boots. The boots I found don't look old, maybe 5 years max, and I was wondering if Dynafit made normal boots in that time frame and how I can tell for sure if these are not touring boots. I believe the model is the Carve-X 8PT
Has Dynafit made normal (non-touring) boots in the past few years?
I'm not sure on that old of a model. Not sure what website you are looking at, but try asking the seller if possible.
Good luck.

Reply:Uggs. They are the most comfy, and although they rip and tear within two years, they are the most comfy and most fuzzy and warm boots anyone can ever buy, let alone wear. I recommend buying them, they are worth the price. Just don't get the color sand, they get dirty way too quickly. Also, buy the waterproof spray to wear them in the snow. You can also wear them anywhere else!

Joke - New Boots?
An elderly couple, Ray and Bessie, are "snowbirds" in Texas. Ray always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots.
Seeing some on sale one day, he buys them and wears them home, walking proudly.
He walks into the house and says to his wife,
"Notice anything different about me?"
Bessie looks him over, "Nope."
Frustrated, Ray storms off into the bathroom, undresses, and walks back into the room completely naked except for the boots.
Again, he asks, a little louder this time, "Notice anything different now??"
Bessie looks up and says, "Ray, what's different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging down again tomorrow."
Furious, Ray yells, "AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT IS HANGING DOWN, BESSIE? IT'S HANGING DOWN BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!!!!!!" To which Bessie replies,
"Shoulda bought a hat, Ray. Shoulda bought a hat."
Joke - New Boots?
I'm already practising my accent so I can TELL this one!
Have a star you star.
Er, excuse my ignorance - but I take it "snowbirds" means that they are 'elderly'?
(Never heard that expression before, but I like it.)

Boots too small?
So I went shopping today and I bought a pair of boots but the only way I could get my foot inside them is by buying a entire 1 1/2 sizes bigger than I normally wear.
Now.. the shoes I bought are a little big in the toe area...but the problem is I can't get my heel into the shoe.. Any idea why? Any explanation on how people get there foot into boots.. Am i doing something wrong?
Boots too small?
Take little cotton and put at the toe space and use a ' shoe horn ' to enable u to put ur heel.I cannot give any reason. If u feel they r ill fitting return them and get another pair and try.

Change of Boots & Blades?
I have Risport RF4, bought last June. When I bought them, they were one month old and I had to break them in. The ONLY skatefitter in my country said that I can wear the size, Mondopt 250, [250mm] He said that it allows growth despite my insisting that I am not growing anymore.
I'm 16, 43 kg. I've been experiencing some foot slippage and read the Mr. Edge's column in USFSA online magazine and realised my boots may be larger. I measure my feet and realised they are about 22.6 cm only. Also, my ball measures 8", and my feet would measure 8 7/8". Narrow. How to measure heel?
No longer trust the skate fitter even though he does a better job at sharpenings than the rink counter does. Need new boots since it is really hurting my feet. I had asked a question on arch pain last year and it persists. I think it's the boots. No Riedells. What model is most reliable? Which blade? I'm looking at eBay..
Currently: toe, 1foot
Not only me. My friend too. 22.1cm feet were fitted with 26.0 cm skates.
Change of Boots %26amp; Blades?
It is possible that your boots may be too large. Your skates should fit you without slippage . . . your heel should fit all the way to the back with room in front just enough to barely wiggle your toes. They should be snug without "room for growth". I am wondering if part of the arch pain is due to your foot trying to "grip" in the extra room in your boot.
My first skates were fitted by a skate shop owner (for inline/skateboard - shows you how much I knew back then). It wasn't until I was doing jumps and spins that I found out these skates were actually almost 2 sizes too big (no wonder I was having some trouble). I had tons of slippage in the heel as my foot slid towards the front - which caused a lot of heel blistering. There was also a "suction" type feeling/sound as I jumped, so that was a sign of bad slippage. Also since my foot slid to the front, it caused the joints to be squeezed in the tight area of the boot and I ended up with a bunion next to both pinkie toes (which I "fondly" called my 6th toe).
Reading your answers, you already seem knowlegable about the top brands out there. Different brands fit certain feet types - some wider or narrower. Those brands are all "reliable" (of quality) as long as it FITS you well and that it supports the level you skate in. I was wondering why no Riedells? I have SP Teri's and they have suited me well - but that boot isn't the best for everyone. I am "Asian" too and was told that "we" tend to get wider feet as we get older . . . so SP Teri's were recommended for me - and they did fit my foot well. MK Pro or Coronation Ace - those blades are kind of on the same level - good all 'round freestyle blade depending on your level - what blades do you currently have?
Here is a very general chart as to how different brands fit certain types of feet.

Have you see this Chow Ying's blog? Figure Skating in Singapore - As A Figure Skater and As A Coach
http://chowskates.blogspot.com/2007_09_0...
Under 9/1/06 Learning to skate, there is a "contact me" link (not sure if it's current). But she does coach at Fuji Palace and she can be found there. She's got great insight on skating in general as she still skates, but she also has current Singapore skating info. She has some blog entries regarding skate issues there. Maybe she can point you to a better direction as to skate fitting and purchasing in Singapore (she seems to welcome email)? Skates can fit by the numbers, but comfort should also be a factor for a boot choice.
Best of luck!
***EDITED: Seeing your additional details, I wanted to add some stuff :) Pick slipping, I totally forgot about that. If you bought the RF4's with a blade already attached, you will need to upgrade the blade for sure (the toe picks are now too small for your toe jumps). Plus a blade upgrade will greatly improve your spins. I switched to the SP Teri / MK Pro when I hit flips (I should have done it a bit earlier) - I probably would have had lesser headaches with toe jumps and spins!
That being said, an upgrade in blade means an upgrade in boots. You should (must) get all leather heel/soled boots for a higher blade - the blades have to be screwed in and you may need adjustments (which can't be done with plastic bottoms). They will be more expensive, but you will need the support of a stiffer boot (and soles) soon. I know the resources are limited out there, so let's see what Chow Ying suggests - ask her about getting used skates too to help keep the costs down.
Oh - Riedells are actually good skates too - again, it's a matter of what fits you best. There are some successful Riedell skaters "here", so I hope they'll answer too!
Sidenote: Thanks, Christinae Leo. Your articulate answers are appreciated here as well - wink!
Reply:It certainly sounds like your boots are too large. Since your skate fitter doesn't seem to be very good at fitting the skates here are a few tips in finding some skates that fit properly- they should not have extra room or "growing room", your heel should fit snugly in the back with your toes touching the end of the skate. I think that Riedell's aren't necessarily more expensive than any other decent skate out there. Harlick skates typically fit well for skaters with narrow feet. I think that trying on different brands and sizes of skates and feeling for which ones seem to fit you the best would be the best thing for you to try since you only have one skate fitter in your country. A boot with a wooden bottom, and a decent support and leather top would be a good boot for you. Here is a website with tips which level boots are good for which skate you need http://www.usfigureskating.org/content/b... I would suggest an MK professional or some other type of freestyle blade, that should help you with your jumps so you will not slip anymore. Good luck!

Travelling Bandages/boots confusion?!?
I intend to take my mare to a couple of shows next season, and I'm thinking about buying her some travelling boots to protect her legs from bumps and knocks while we travel, but I'm not sure whether I should buy travelling boots or bandages, as bandages are so much cheaper, but does it kind of compromise the safety of my horse (I know that sounds really over protective, but i want the best for her!) or are they both just as good as each other? Also, if i buy the bandages, should I use padding underneath them, or can i just put them straight on, and why do some bandages need padding?
so, travelling boots or bandages?! Thanks in advance!!! =D
and if you're going to be rude, then please don't bother answering!
Thanks!!!! =D
Travelling Bandages/boots confusion?!?
Boots aren't that great, they slip down, horse stands on them and they get trashed very easily. I prefer polo wraps with pillows or gamgee underneath. You can wrap them from below the knee down to the coronet band and put on bell boots on the front. Polo wraps work better than standing wraps as they have more pull, keep shape better and are longer. You should use some form of padding because you are wrapping them differently to an exercise bandage, they need to be firm but not tight and the pillows/gamgee will prevent them being overtight and will also distribute the pressure and allow for lymphatic draining so that the legs don't fill up.
If you go to Country Supply (online site), they do polo wraps and pillows very cheaply. I bought some myself from there for traveling my horse and they were good quality.
Reply:Thank you!!! I don't think I will be going to any shows this winter as my horse has just gone lame and has a rotating pedal bone. But thanks anyway, as I will probably need them next year!!! =D thanks!! Report It
Reply:I show horses too....have for about 30 years. Let me start off by explaining the differences. There are standing wraps, polo wraps, and shipping boots. Standing wraps are used to reduce swelling in the legs and the padding called quilts are used underneath. Polo wraps are used without quilts and are usually used while the horse is worked. Shipping boots are padded wraps that extend from the knee to the bottom of the hoof and have velcro closers. When I am shipping my horses I tend to use standing wraps underneath my shipping boots if my horse is a hard hauler or new to hauling and also if the show is a good distance away. Otherwise I just use the shipping boots. I would also suggest investing in a head bumper (helmet) for your horse. Good Luck at the show!
Reply:I use bandages with pads and knee and hock boots. (They cost me more than an average set of travel boots). Correctly applied they offer more support and are safer. Travel boots can slip and cause a horse to become distressed. The guy I use to transport my horses to competitions always commends me on taking the time to travel my horse in safety and comfort. He says that shipping, or travelling, boots are a waste of time. He has been transporting top competition horses, and race horses, for many years.
If you are not used to applying bandages, you should practice lots. It's too easy to apply them too tight or too loose. The pads are needed to offer extra protection and prevent rubs from the bandages. Knee and hock boots are great for extra protection, and a neoprene tail guard will prevent tail rubs, and is easier to apply than a bandage.
Good luck for next season!
Reply:Traveling Boots are deffinately totally meant for traveling, and they are specially desighned for most of the things that could happen in a trailer. But they are more expensive. I've heard of Bandages bing used as boots, but they're more for keeping feet and shins clean, then for saftey in a trailer. They are protective, though. And YES, you should deffinatly use fuzzies, or pads under the bandages.
Reply:get the boots they have more support and should last a long time
Reply:I used to use bandages all the time on my old mare whenever i travelled her. Usually you should use gamgee underneath when using bandages but she panicked when i put this on her so I used bandages on their own. Bandages are more old fashioned to use when travelling. If you are going to buy bandages you need to get the more fleecy ones as these are for travelling. Never use the elasticated bandages without gamgee underneath as this is dangerous.
On the mare that I have now I tend to use travel boots because, even though they are more expensive, they are easier to put on as she is a youngster and therefore can get a little excited when we go out!! However, I still prefer bandages as I have found that these are less likely to slip, even when I have used them on my youngster.
Good luck! :o)
Reply:Boots typically offer more protection than bandages. You can always use polo wraps, they aren't as pricy as boots.
I use them for shows to help keep their legs clean in the trailer. Polo wraps are slightly easier to wash than boots, but both serve good purposes.
Reply:I am not going to be rude but I do not have an answer. I just wanted to tell you I thought it sweet that you want the best for your horse.
Reply:How far do you intend on traveling with your horse? If your shows are all local - personally I wouldn't spend the money on either!!!
I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just looking out for you since the expenses in general are already outrageous when showing. The only time I would bother with wrapping or shipping boots is if the show is in another city, or if I was worried about poop getting on white socks - or, if I'm stalling my horse at a show.. I'll wrap his legs at night so he doesn't get swelling from standing all night long.
Either way - I would honestly go for the pillow wraps and standing wraps vs. the shipping boots. I've used both, and I can say from experience that the shipping boots tend to slip down, they step on them, etc. because you can't really get them as snug as you can with standing wraps. Just make sure you get the thinner pillow wraps and not the really "pillowy" ones because, those, again, can sometimes slide down as it's hard to tell how tight you've got them.
Reply:Bandages are okay to use, however, they are primarily used for support (like support hose for women) Shipping boots specifically are designed to give your horse much more protection for his legs while travelling, that's why they cost more.
Reply:I tried using polo wraps when transporting my horse but I apparently wasn't very good at it as they would end up unraveling and falling off, He would step on the ends, which I found more dangerous than trailering him without anything. I have never used shipping boots before though.
Reply:Lots of questions in here but I will say if economy is the issue then go for the bandages, padding adds to the protection but also helps maintain circulation when using the wraps. I really am not a fan of the boots but the choice is yours. I guess I like the ablility to adjust a bandage whereas with a boot it goes where it goes and that's it.
Check this out!

Reply:I would get the travelling boots, they last a long time and they do the job very well. I always used travelling boots and I had mine for years before they needed replaced. it's worth the extra money.
Reply:Well it depends on the length of travel, I use shipping boots for short distance and shipping bandages for longer ones. The differenc eis the amount of protection that they offer. Usuall a shipping bandgae is polo wraps and a type of cotton quilt or "no-bow" bandage. The quilt or No Bow is place don the leg first and then wrapped securely with polo wraps. This is lamost like putting a pillow on your horse's legs lol. It provides support and cushioning, where as shippings boots just provide cushining. also Equibrand (classic equine) makes a type of bandage called Stress Guard, they are thicker than a normal shipping boot, but not as thick as applying a no bow and polo wrap. They may be ideal for your needs. unfortunately right now they come only in black.. lol but they are nice. I also have apair of these for use if a horse won't stand still for leg wrapping or I'm in a bit of a hurry and don't have time to wrap
Here are a couple of links about the shipping banadage and how to correctly apply them.
This article explains a shipping banadage vs a shipping boot
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipping_ba...
this article is about all kinds of bandages
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...
here is a link to equibrand's stress guard wraps. Now in the disciplines section of the oage it says sutiable for the following discipline... barrel raicng , reining,...etc what they mean is that many of the people who show these events use these to wrap a horse's leg in , not during competetion, but for general bandagin and shipping:) I had to clarify that with my Equibrand rep a few months ago for a customer:) hope this infor helps

Reply:good for you for askin ,, it is personal choice also how well your horse travels .. personally i use travel boots protects the knee n hocks as well as the leg .. also another advantage is quickly put on n removed if your horse is impaitent rather than fiddlin around with bandages .. enjoy showing your mare xx
Reply:I use boots on my horse. They are a lot safer and A LOT easier to put on! Bandages take so long and in the end it's a lot easier to just velcrow on some boots. I know these are expense but they're the ones I have and they have been great and they stay in great shape! Hope this helps=]
http://www.statelinetack.com/itemdy00.as...
Reply:Shipping boots are my preference because you can't get them too tight. Pay a little extra and get the good ones and when you put them on, go ahead and put the bottom all the way down over the hoof...you do this for a couple of reasons...one, it protects the hoof and keeps it clean, but mostly, if you start by putting the boot down that low, then velcro it tight (like I said, if it's a good, heavily padded shipping boot, you can't get it too tight) it's going nowhere, because there's no place for it to slip, it's already in place at the bottom of the foot. I know that there are people who use wraps and get along just fine, but all it takes is for one to slip or get separated or get too tight for too long and you have bowed tendons...I know, I know...enough padding and that won't happen...well wraps do come off or get loose and padding can shift, so I do it the safe way, plus it's easier and quicker.

Here are a couple of links about the shipping banadage and how to correctly apply them.

here is a link to equibrand's stress guard wraps.
