Does having dual boots cause laptops to overheat?

I created another partition for my presario laptop; mainly to install VISTA on it. After a few weeks, I notice that my laptop heats up pretty fast and it feels really hot at the bottom. As a result, it immediately and automatically shuts down. And it takes 5 to 10 more minutes for the laptop to boot normally. I mean if I try to boot, it just shuts down even in Safe Mode.





Does having dual boots really contribute to the overheating of the laptop?

Dual booting should have nothing to do with this... the CPU load and hardware usage of the loaded operating system would be the culprit.





If a laptop is running below the minimum requirements for the operating system it could cause the system to heat up.





The next option is that it could potentially be a issue with the laptop itself and just a coincidence that it occurred at the time you decided to setup a dual boot system.

Most likely you are having a driver issue with Vista that is not working correctly with your hardware - thus causing it to overheat.





Could be something as simple as Vista not controlling the fan speed, or causing improper voltages across your board.





Have you been able to determine - without question - that this occurs under your normal XP boot as well? Also, I would probably make sure that the latest BIOS is installed on your machine - or at least reinstall the original.
Reply:it may be tha tone of your fans has shorted out. It could be the dual OS is making the hard drive work harder making it overheat worse.


It could be the battery going bad.


I sugest you take it in and get it looked at.
Reply:No, that has nothing to do with it. Check your fan and make sure that it is running, and also that there is no dust buildup. If it is not working, it needs replaced.

the overheating can be caused by a damaged battery,have it checked as soon as posible because there are batteries that causes fire
